SEO voor webshopblogs: Hoe schrijf je gestructureerd voor betere vindbaarheid

Blogging itself is already difficult for many webshops. I already wrote a blog about how you can come up with a new topic that you think your target audience will be interested in. Additionally, you naturally want it to be easily found in Google.

Here are my tips for a better structure in your blogs + how to ensure it is SEO-optimized for more traffic to your webshop:

      1. Write down your subtitles first so that you can clearly see which part covers which topic, and maintain a hierarchy.
The main title of your blog topic should get the <H1> tag. This heading is the most important. The following subheading then gets <H2>.

If you find the font size too large to also set the following subtitles as H2, you can follow the first one with H3. Depending on your CSS settings (the styling of your pages, the default font, etc.), these are often different in size.

So, you get 1x the H1, then the H2, and possibly after that H3. You can also alternate H2 and H3 after the H1, for example, if a topic has a sub-topic. Just like in a research paper where you have many headings and subheadings.

Remember: Never use the H1 more than once.

The best practice is to put your main keyword in the H1. That way, you clearly show that this is your topic.

By "main," I actually mean the main theme of your blog, often the keyword with the most potential search volume. If you don't have a tool to check search volumes, you can also just take the first thing that comes to mind when you type something into Google as your topic (the suggestions it gives you).

This is a free way to see what is being searched for a lot.

    1. Write an introduction that sparks interest and use the most important part of it for your meta-description.
It is often easiest to write your introduction last when you have finished the blog post. Then you have the whole story in your head and can describe it concisely in your introduction.

When you have finished the introduction, you can use a part of it for your meta-description. That is the piece of text that describes the page below the link in Google. Make sure it fits well and that you also add a call to action, such as "Read more here!" or "View the latest collection."

    2. Use bullet points or lists wherever possible.
Both your reader and Google love them, because it is much easier to absorb and understand the information.

Nobody reads very long sentences, especially if they are very long, and we prefer to scan the text.

    3. Ensure links to other relevant blogs and products or product categories.
It is tempting to use many links, but if you do this, you risk Google giving your webshop a high spam score, causing your rankings to drop.

A good rule of thumb is to do this max 1x per paragraph, and even less often (every 2-3 paragraphs) if they are only 1-2 sentences long.

Definitely also include a link to your webshop or a specific collection at the end of your blog. You don't want someone to leave immediately after reading; you want them to also browse your shop. This also signals to Google that your content is valuable.

    4. Enrich your blog with a beautiful banner and images between the headings.

A good, eye-catching banner attracts attention more quickly, after which your introduction and clear structure ensure that someone actually reads your blog.

If the material itself is not very valuable, e.g., because it is an inspiration blog with little substantive info, ensure that the photos are, and link the photos to the relevant collection or product. If you do this, watch out that you don't already have too many links in your text to avoid it being too spammy.

You must also give these images an alt-tag / text so that Google can 'read' the images based on this. Use "-" between the words in this case.

    5. Bonus tip: Capture the visitor's email address. As a final tip, I want to give you that it is smart to place a signup field for your newsletter (with a discount code) or a lead magnet somewhere halfway through your blog. Many people drop off or get distracted, and this way you ensure you still get their email address before they click away.
